Antodaya
Anna Yojana (AAY)
The
families which are pooer than the BPL families
have been brought under the above scheme. Rice is
provided @ Rs.3.00 and wheat @ Rs.2.00 per Kg are
provided under the scheme. There are about 2 lakh
families under the scheme. The monthly allotment
of wheat and rice is 23806 MT and 23802 MT
respectively.
Annapurna Scheme
This scheme has been
introduced by the Government of India for the
senior citizens who are above 65 years of age who
are not covered under the National Old Age Pension
scheme. Monthly 10 kgs of food grains are provided
to a person under this scheme. The total allotment
under this scheme is 960 MT.
Below Poverty Line (BPL)
35 Kgs of food grains per family is provided in
the scheme at Rs.4.15 per Kg wheat and Rs.5.65 per
Kg for rice. In West Bengal there are about 197
lakh BPL families and the allotment under the
scheme is 64429 MT rice and 55508 MT wheat per
month.
Mid-day Meal
(MDM)
Food grains are
provided free of cost to the State Government for
primary school children and Shishu Siksha Kendras
for providing cooked meals in the schools. The
cost of the food grains are realized from the
Ministry of Human Resources Department, government
of India at BPL rates. The allotment under this
scheme is 205424.50 MT of rice per yrear.
National Food for Work (NFFW)
This programme was
launched for most backward districts of the
country. In West bengal 6 districts, namely,
Purulia, Malda, West Midnapore, Bankura, East and
West Dinajpur and Murshidabad were identified.
Only rice is issued free of cost to the State
Government. The cost is reimbursed by the ministry
of Rural Development, Government of India.
Sampurna Gramin Rozgar
Yojana (SGRY)
Food grains are
provided under this scheme to the State Government
to undertake the development works like
construction of roads, infrastructure for
education, Helath improvement, improvement of
environment etc. Under this scheme 5 Kgs of rice
and Rs.32/- are to be paid as wages per man per
day. FCI provides rice free of cost to the State
Government and the reimbursement is made by the
Ministry of Rural Development, Government of
India. The allotment in the in the first phase is
2,46,322 MT.
